While most features and changes for your Zen Cart can be done within the administrative area.There may come a time when you need to interact with the database directly via a tool like phpMyAdmin. This could be due to troubleshooting or even making mass changes to the database that are not available in the back office. In this case, however, you will need to know the database name. The steps below will guide you in discovering the database name your Zen Cart application uses.

Locating the database name for your Zen Cart application

1. To get started, log into your cPanel dashboard.
2. Once in the main cPanel area, enter the File Manager.
3. After you enter the File Manager, navigate to the root folder for your Zen Cart store. In our example, the folder is named zencart and is under the public_html root folder. If you are using an addon domain, look for the domain name under the public_html folder. For example, the files for an addon domain named example.com would be under the public_html/example.com folder
4. Under the root folder for your Zen Cart store, locate and enter the includes folder. Using our main domain as an example, we would be in the public_html/includes folder.
5. Now that you are in the includes folder, you will need to open the configure.php file. To open the file, highlight it and click on the Edit icon located in the toolbar across the top.
6. You will see a lot of text inside the file, so you may want to use the search feature to find DB_DATABASE. Using the line of code below as an example, the second parameter is the full database name. The name is prefixed by your cPanel username (userna5) and the database name is the last portion (_zen123).

7. Write the database name down for later reference. You can now quickly locate your database when using tools like phpMyAdmin regerdless of how many databases your hosting account is using.
