By default Concrete5 updates the sitemap periodically, however you can manually generate the sitemap. This is recommended after large updates, or a major change in the site structure.

In this tutorial we will show you how to generate a sitemap.xml file in Concrete5. Sitemaps are useful by providing a map for the search engines to crawl, which can help them better refer visitors to your website that are looking for content available there.

Generating a Sitemap.xml in Concrete5:

  1. Login to your Concrete5 Dashboard.
  2. Roll your mouse over the Dashboard button, and choose System & Settings. This will bring up the System & Settings menu.
  3. Choose Automated Jobs, under the Optimization section to bring up the Automated Jobs menu.
  4. Look for the automated job with the name "Generate the sitemap.xml file," and click the play symbol to the right of it to perform this job. It may take some time to finish this process.
    generate-sitemap-1
Upon completion you will see the Last Run date update, and the Results of Last Run listed.
    generate-sitemap-2
Congratulations, now you know how to generate the sitemap xml file in Concrete5.
