I successfully installed Joomla 2.5 about two weeks ago. After finding a template I was happy with (which came with demo data and bundled with Joomla 2.5), I deleted the database the original Joomla install resided on and created a new one. I extracted the latest Joomla 2.5 with template; however, when I went to www.sitename.com/installation, I was sent to the last page of the Joomla installation where you are reminded to delete the installation folder. I suspect the previous Joomla files in my File Manager were complicating things. I would just like to start from scratch with File Manager like when I first opened my WebHosting Hub account. Any ideas? Your help is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Hi MichaelS,

I'm sorry you're having trouble re-installing Joomla 2.5 with your new template. From what you described, the new template and Joomla are bundled together so you will need to make a completely fresh install of Joomla. Since this is for the primary domain name on the account, you will want to first clear out the folders and files in the public_html directory (make sure you do not delete the public_html folder itself). You can leave the following folders/files in public_html, as they will not interfere with your Joomla installation:

cgi-bin
default.htm

If you use the cPanel File Manager to clear out the files, make sure when you click on the File Manager icon that you select the box next to "Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)." This will allow you to see if you have an .htaccess file in public_html. The .htaccess file should be removed before attempting to re-install Joomla.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions or need further assistance.

Regards,

Christi N.
