Fantastico de Luxe is a feature in cPanel that lets you easily install programs to your account. As of September 17th, 2012, Fantastico is no longer available and has been replaced by Softaculous.

To help alert our customers to this change, this announcement has been placed on all articles relating to Fantastico. If you have not used Fantastico or Softaculous, please see our Softaculous software installation guide for more help with installing programs such as WordPress and Joomla.

Fantastico is a great option to quickly install a program onto your site in only a few clicks, including such software as Wordpress, Joomla, and more.  Fantastico de Luxe can be accessed in your account cPanel.

After logging into your cPanel, under Software / Services is the link to Fantastico de Luxe:

Once it has been clicked on, you will see the list of options on the left of programs that can be quickly and easily installed onto your domain name:

Next you will choose which program you want to install.  Each program when you click on it will give you a description of the software, the homepage, and the option to install it.  Most software installs within Fantastico guide you through the same exact steps. In this article as an example we will help you install phpBB. The steps for installing phpBB will be the same steps you take when installing other programs within Fantastico.

First, select the program from the left side of the menu that you want to install. The next page will show the description of the software, the homepage, and the option to make a New Installation.  Click on the "New Installation" link to begin the installation process.

fantasticoinstall2On the next page, fill in the requested information and click "Install":

  • Install on domain: Use the drop down list to select which domain you want to install the software onto.
  • Install in directory: If you would like to install the program into a subdirectory enter the name of the sub directory here.
  • Admin access data: You will need a username and password to log into the software's admin panel.
  • Base configuration:  Fill out this area with your email address, full name, and the name of your site.

fantasticoinstall1The next screen is just a confirmation screen to confirm that you are installing the software in the directory selected.  If the information looks right, click on "Finish installation."

fantasticoinstall4 On this final page, you will see a confirmation that your new installation of the software has been successfully install.  If you would like to have this information emailed to you, enter your email address in the bottom field and click "Send E-mail."

In the next several sections, we will go over in depth how to install WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal using Fantastico de Luxe.

Hello Lovelie,

You will want to be sure the domain name is actually on the server. If you are certain that it should be, then you will want to contact HostGator so they can take a look and see if the server is recognizing it. Fantastico should list it as long as the server can see the domain on your account.

Kindest Regards,
Scott M
