This feature is currently unavailable on Web Hosting Hub. To continue, manually synchronize programs into Softaculous.

Programs that you have previously installed with Fantastico in cPanel can also be managed by Softaculous. To do this, you would require that the program be imported so that you can use the program management features available within Softaculous. This will make it easier to backup, restore, and update your software, which are all very important aspects of website maintenance.

In our testing, we used Fantastico to install WordPress as http://domain.com/bradm-wp-softaculous/. In this tutorial, we will import this WordPress installation into Softaculous.

Please note!
Software files will not be moved or changed when you import an application to Softaculous. The import process makes it possible to use Softaculous to manage your applications with its interface.

To import a program into Softaculous:

  1. Log into cPanel
  2. Click the Softaculous icon
  3. In the top menu, click the Sync With Installers icon
  4. You will then see a list of programs that Softaculous will be able to import. As you can see in the screenshot below, it found the installation of WordPress that we installed with Fantastico.

    Check the box
next to each of the programs you want to import, then click the the Sync/Import button. When the import is successful, you will see the following message:

Congratulations, the software was synced/imported successfully.

When you visit your Softaculous Installations Overview page (the Applications Installs button at the top of the page), you will see the new program you imported over.

Hello CPotgieter,

The import option listed in the instructions above is used only if you have used an auto-installer problem - like Softaculous- to install programs. This option does not actually perform an installation. It brings a record of the installation into Softaculous so that the program can track that installation. You can also click an application in the Softaculous list and then select IMPORT. Again, this does not perform an installation, it only allows you to bring in and track an install that was not performed by Softaculous.

If you're trying to install Wordpress, check out Installing WordPress with Softaculous.

Let us know if you have any further questions or comments.

Regards,
Arnel C.
