If you forget your Admin password and try to use the Forgot your Password link (See image to the right) you will get the following error.

Reset password failed: A Super Administrator can't request a password reminder. Please contact another Super Administrator or use an alternative method.
To reset the Administrators password in Joomla you will need to access the database and reset the password through there. The following steps will show you how to reset your Joomla 3.1 Administrators password through PhpMyAdmin.
Go to "Databases" then click the "PhpMyAdmin" link.
Select the database on the left.
Click your users table. In this example the users table is called jos_users.
Edit the Administrator account.
Type a new password. The password will be seen in plan text. To encrypt the password select the MD5 option in the Function column.
Click Go. You will now be able to log in your Joomla dashboard with the new password.
