In this tutorial we will guide you through installing and configuring the Zone Rates shipping module, which charges a certain price per weight for a specific zone.

For example, you can create a zone for the United Kingdom (UK), and charge $3.00 for up to 2.99lbs, $5.00 for 3-5.99lbs, and $10.00 shipping for anything over 6lbs.

Installing the Zone Rates module:

  1. Login to the Admin panel for osCommerce.
  2. Select the Modules option in the menu, then click Shipping.
  3. Now select the +Install Module button.
  4. In the modules list, select Zone Rates, then click the +Install Module button to the right.
  5. You will then see the Zone Rates module, select it, then click the Edit button to the right.
You will then be able to modify the Zone Rate settings:
Enable Zones Method True enables, this shipping option. If you select False, this shipping option will not be available. It will still be installed, just 'turned off.'
Tax Class You can choose a tax class if you want to charge taxes on the shipping price.
Sort Order The number you enter here will affect where this option will display on the modules list. Zero will be at the top of the list, and higher numbers will be further down the list.
Zone 1 Countries  Enter ISO country codes here separated by a comma, these should be 2 digit codes.
    Zone Shipping Table

This field is where the rates are decided. For example:   20:5.00, 30:7.00, 10000:10

    This would Result in:

    0-19.99lbs = $5.00

    20-29.99lbs = $7.00

    30lbs or more will be = $10.00

Zone 1 Handling Fee Enter a handling fee if you are charging one, this will only be charged once, no matter how many items are ordered.
After making your selections, click the Save button.
