Having an online forum is a great tool that can be used on your website to encourage visitors to discuss different topics.  To assist in installing a forum to your website, in Fantastico there are two forum options that are ready for quick installation onto your account.

What is a Forum?

A forum is an online discussion board (or a bulletin board). It allows your users to post topics to which other visitors of your website can respond to. Forums are popular on hobby sites as well as on sites that offer some type of assistance to their visitors, whether it be technical support or fixing a car.

While most people are familiar with using a forum, setting up a forum at first can seem to be a difficult task but it can be done quickly and easily with the assistance of free applications. There are several online forum applications you can install, most notably phpBB and SMF.

Which forum application is best for my needs?

There are lots of programs available to make a forum on your website, but the two below listed below are two of the most popular applications:

phpBB - Features
SMF - Feature List

There are other forum applications that are available and will work on the Web Hosing Hub servers, we recommend phpBB and SMF because they have a lot of online documentation available and can be easy installed through Fantastico de Luxe.

How do I install an online forum?

If you choose to use either phpBB or SMF as your forum, you can install the applications through your cPanel in a program called Fantastico de Luxe. You can read more about Fantastico here: Getting Started Guide: Fantastico

If you decide to choose a forum other than what is offered in Fantastico, please see the program's installation instructions for more help with installation. If you run into any issues during the installation, please contact our technician support and they will be happy to assist you.

How do I use an online forum?

After you've installed your new forum, we would recommend reading the forum's documentation to help get familiar with your new application and how to use it.
