I had originally set up my website using Frontpage but now want to use WordPress. I deleted all the files using File Manager under the public-html folder. Except all the WordPress ones.

When I went to my website address, I was expecting to just see an error message (or a WordPress page) but it is still showing my original front page as well as several other pages (although some are showing error messages).

What am I missing? Are there other files I should have deleted. I just want to get rid of my original website in it's entirety and start again. I probably haven't helped things by already downloading WordPress as these files are sitting in the public-html folder.

I am wondering if it would be easier to remove the WordPress files as well and start everything again.

Any help would be gratefully received as I am a bit of a novice at this as you can probably tell!

Thank you.

Hello zoessb,

I'm sorry you're having trouble switching from Frontpage to WordPress. Just a note for any future software changes, it is better to remove the old files before uploading or installing new ones as it can be confusing when trying to determine which files are the old ones and which ones are the new ones. Just be sure to perform a backup before making major changes such as this in the event there are any issues with the change over.

I took a look at your site and I'm seeing a a Maintenance Mode page which appears to be from a WordPress plugin you are using. If you're not seeing this page, please try refreshing your browser and if needed, clear your browser's cache.

Since you're just switching over to WordPress, you may also want to check out our WordPress Education Channel which is a great resource for learning WordPress.

Please let us know if you have any questions or need any additional assistance.

Regards,

Christi N.

That does not answer the question. In order to 'start over' in cpanel after already creating a landing page, you'll simply want to follow these instructions:
