The previous guide in our getting started in Concrete5 series we showed you how to update Concrete5.  In this tutorial we will show you how to check for updates to your Add-ons in Concrete5. Add-ons allow for additional functionality within Concrete5, but must be updated in a separate location from where you update Concrete5.

It is recommended to update your Add-ons, as well as Concrete5 regularly to avoid them becoming outdated. When a content management systems (cms) or an Add-on becomes outdated, it can open your site up to malware.

How to Update Addons in Concrete5:

  1. Login to your Concrete5 Dashboard.
  2. Roll your mouse over the Dashboard button on top, and click Extend Concrete5. This will bring up the Add Functionality menu.
  3. Click the arrow on the top right, and when the menu comes up, select Update Add-Ons.

Concrete5 will check for updates, and notify you if there are any available. Otherwise you will see a mesage stating "No updates for your add-ons are available."

Congratulations, now you know how to check for Add-on updates in Concrete5! In the next tutorial we will show you how to work with the Versions option in Concrete5.
