<p>Hi. So I'm a little confused about the interface in the file manager. I'm trying to open a php file in my browser and I'm accustomed to another server's interface where I would click edit to see the code or open to load the file into the browser. I'm not sure which of the right click options applies..."Download" just keeps opening a blank tab in my browser (after I got it to just stop opening the code in Dreamweaver). I can get to it if I manually enter the site address in the browser, but I would love something more convenient...Anyone know what to do?</p>

Hello Proxette,

I can understand the confusion that comes with learning a different interface. The file manager in the Cpanel actually makes it very easy to edit something like a PHP file. In fact, there are 2 built-in edit options (edit or code edit) within the file manager. If you edit the files from the file manager, you would be making the changes directly on the server.

To edit a file in the File Manager, simply select the file in the window on the right side of the window (you can't make changes to folders listed on the left). Right-click and select EDIT or CODE EDIT, to edit the file. OR, you can also simply highlight the file, and then go to the menu bar the top of the File manager and select EDIT or CODE EDIT.

Here's a tutorial on this process:
