Creating a Discount Coupon in Virtuemart

In this tutorial we will guide you in creating a new discount coupon that is redeemable on your Virtumart E-commerce website. You can help drive traffic to your site by providing visitors with discounts on certain products.

As an example, you can provide a percentage or dollar amount off when customer's check out of your Eshop store.

How to Create a Discount Coupon:

1. Login to your Joomla Admin panel.
2. In the menu, roll your mouse over the Components option and select Virtuemart.
3. Select the Orders & Shoppers option on the left menu, then choose the Coupons.
   
4. The Coupon List will come up, and you will see any existing coupons, click the New button on the top right. The Coupon Details menu will come up, and provide some blank fields.
   
   

   Option	Description
   Coupon	Enter the code that customers must must enter to use the coupon. You can use letters or numbers.
   Value	Enter the amount the discount is for, here.
   Percent or Total	Select if you want the discount to be a percentage off, or a dollar value off the total.
   Coupon Type	Choose from Gift Coupon, or Permanent Coupon. Gift coupons can only be used once, while permanent coupons can be redeemed over and over again by different people.
   Minimum Total Order	You can enter a dollar amount here, the coupon is only valid if the total is higher than the dollar amount set here.
   Coupon Start Date	Select a date you want this coupon promo to begin, if you set it to Never it will be valid as soon as you save this coupon.
   Coupon Expiry Date	This coupon will no longer be accepted after the date entered here.

   
   After making your selections, click the Save button on the top right. You will see a message stating "Coupon successfully saved."
   
   Now, when you select Coupons under the Orders & Shoppers menu you will see your new coupon is listed.
