How do I develop an addon site with the temporary domain?

General Information
A site that is operational and being hosted elsewhere is being considered by others to be transferred to my WebHostingHub account for me to manage. I'm seeing that it would be an addon domain to my existing account. Can I start development of a site before assigning it the actual domain name? Can a site be built with a temporary name that can be renamed to the future actual name? Thank you.

Hello vtxrat,

Yes, you can move the site over to a subfolder within your existing account and use that for development. Then, once you add the new site to your account, simply make that folder the root for the addon when you bring it over to your server.

For example, if you put the new domain files under a folder named 'addon', then you would be able to view it by the temporary URL as This way you can work on it. When you add the domain name as an addon, simply make the 'addon' folder the root folder for that domain.

Best Regards,
Scott M
