When you are designing a Concrete5 website, you may need to change the website to a different URL address, such as your Temporary URL. For example you might need to test your site on the Temp URL before going live, to ensure that it is functioning correctly.  In this tutorial we will show you how to change your URL address in Concrete5 to another address, such as your temporary URL.

This tutorial is for Concrete5 versions older than 5.5.1, for newer versions this is not required, since it is no longer domain specific.

If you need help moving your Concrete5 website to us, we have a helpful tutorial that covers moving your Concrete5 website to Web Hosting Hub.

How to Change Your URL:

  1. Using FTP or File manager, navigate to your Concrete5 installation location.
  2. Locate and open the config folder.
  3. Edit the sites.php file, and locate and edit the following code, by putting in an accurate URL (in my test I am using an example Temporary URL):

    define('BASE_URL', 'http://whub21.webhostinghub.com/~mydom55');

    If you do not see this line of code, then add the following:

    define('BASE_URL', 'http://whub21.webhostinghub.com/~mydom55');
    define('DIR_REL', '');

    Be sure to replace the example Temporary URL: http://whub21.webhostinghub.com/~mydom55, with your actual URL and save upon completion.

    Congratulations, now you know how to change your site URL in Concrete5 versions prior to 5.5.1
