Search engines will "crawl" (another term for index) your new website automatically, but you can also submit your website to the search engines so that they are scanned faster.  Each search engine has their own form to submit your URL (or website):

There are also free websites available that will submit your website to many other search engines as well:

While this isn't required, it is recommended to submit your websites to help your site be ranked in search results as quickly as possible.
